Sweet Sauce Spaghetti

Hi everybody,


I hope Earth Day was as fabulous for you as it was for me! I was flapping through treetops and searching for seedlings to scatter so I could try to help grow a new tree, and then a super idea came to me! I should go find apple seeds! Well, that made me hungry, so it was time to eat! …..Maybe some Sweet Sauce Spaghetti!


I wanted to use some real apples in my dish, so I flew into… yes, yummy spaghetti with apple tomato sauce recipes! This “sweet sauce spaghetti” is tasty beyond belief and it’s widely acclaimed. The recipe I chose to adapt is over at Melissa’s Cuisine online. Thanks a bunch, Melissa!

  • 1 28-oz. can of tomatoes (plum or whole)

  • 1 tbsp. organic, cold-pressed olive oil

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 1 tsp. salt

  • 3 tart apples, peeled, cored, and grated  (any variety of your choice! Examples: Granny Smith, Jonathon)

  • 1/2 lb. spaghetti noodles, cooked

  • Pour canned tomatoes into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

  • Pour olive oil into a large skillet or saucepan. Heat over medium heat.

  • Add onions to oil and saute until caramelized.

  • Stir tomatoes into caramelized onions and add salt. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Stir grated apples into tomato sauce. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. (The sauce should thicken slightly and the apples should be tender).

  • Serve sauce over spaghetti noodles and enjoy!

If a top becomes damaged and the product becomes overly exposed to air, it is possible for mold to develop because Holmes Mouthwatering Applesauce is all-natural and preservative free.

What kind of mold could grow in preservative-free fruit?

The mold that might occur is a common food mold, similar to what can happen with fresh fruit that has been overly exposed to air.

What should I do if I think I see mold in my product?
